Our purpose
Poultry Affairs exists to help poultry keepers make better decisions. We publish practical guidance on housing, feeding and nutrition, health, husbandry, and breed selection for chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and guinea fowl. Our aim is that every article is genuinely useful to someone keeping birds, whether in a backyard, on a smallholding, or on a commercial farm.
Accuracy and sourcing
We work to keep our content accurate and reliable. Our articles draw on established poultry-management guidance and standard industry practice, and on breeder and feed or equipment manufacturers’ published specifications where those are available. We do not commission formal academic or professional review, and we do not have an editorial board or a fact-checking team of outside experts. Where our information comes from a specific source, we aim to say so in the article itself.
Figures and specifications
Numbers such as feed quantities, stocking rates, incubation settings, and expected growth or laying figures are based on standard guidance and on breeder and manufacturer specifications where published. Where a figure or example is an estimate rather than established guidance, we say so, so you can tell the difference between a documented value and a worked example.
Our focus: Nigeria and Africa
We write first for Nigerian conditions, including local costs, commonly available breeds, and our climate, while keeping the wider African context in mind. Where local conditions affect the guidance we give, we try to make that clear.
Corrections
We correct factual errors when we find them or when they are brought to our attention. If you spot a mistake or something that is out of date, please let us know through our Corrections Policy or our Contact page, and we will review it.

Our health content is educational. It is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a qualified veterinary professional. If you are concerned about the health of your birds, consult a qualified veterinarian.
